Providing vision and strategic leadership, the Director is responsible for the operational management and development of innovative, quality, patient/client/resident safety risk management, patient relations and patient & family engagement programs and services. Supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of Providence Care, the Director ensures promotion and enhancement of a culture of patient & family centeredness,

Quality improvement and patient/client/resident safety. The Director coordinates and guides the organization in the interpretation of Quality and Patient Safety legislation and in ensuring compliance of the legislative requirements. The Director oversees the development of the corporate annual Quality Improvement Plan and Program level Quality improvement plans. The Director coordinates and guides the organization in the Accreditation process.

Skills & Experience / Compétences & expérience

Education & Experience: Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Master’s degree in a health-related field

Completion of courses in the areas of Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management
5 to 7 years of recent healthcare experience functioning in a similar role, with hands-on knowledge of hospital and health care delivery systems including experience with leadership in the areas of Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Risk Management and the Accreditation Process

Prior experience in the direct delivery of patient/client/resident/client care, preferred
Current affiliation with organizations and/or associations focused on quality improvement, patient safety and risk management in the health care sector

Knowledge of Quality Improvement, Patient Safety and Risk Management conceptual models, tools and principles

Advanced level proficiency using risk management database application, RL Solutions preferred

Demonstrated knowledge and training in legislative acts governing the hospital and long term care sectors

Demonstrated effectiveness in planning, facilitating and delivery of training in accordance with adult learning principles

Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated project management experience including effectiveness planning, coordinating and overseeing operational initiatives and multiple projects concurrently

Demonstrated ability to lead and influence individuals and teams toward a vision while maintaining group cohesiveness, motivation, commitment and effectiveness

Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others to achieve optimal outcomes/results

Demonstrated effective communication and diplomacy with varied groups of stakeholders including internal clients, external vendors/contractors and staff

Demonstrated commitment to continued learning and effectiveness in promoting the value of learning and acquiring new information and skills to staff

Demonstrated effectiveness in identifying and analyzing situations and problems; finding viable solutions with consideration to total systems and strategies

Demonstrated effective management of resources consistent with organizational and team goals

Demonstrated person centred approach and commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of the department and of Providence Care

Demonstrated professional work attitude and behaviours in interaction with internal and external contacts

Demonstrated effectiveness as a team member through collaboration, respect and effective communication
