The Rehab Assistant, under the direction of the Clinical Manager, is responsible for completion of professional activities that include: assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients requiring Rehab intervention, in accordance with professional standards.

Clinical Responsibilities:Supports carrying out the day to day tasks and goals as set by the rehab team.

You will be required to work with our ALC unit and area community hip and knee clients. Shifts inside ALC and visits in the community if required.

Cues client as required for ADLs and IADLs.

Reinforces safety measures with client.

Medication monitoring, reminders, education.

Reinforces behaviour management principles and acceptable social skills.

Monitors triggers that are adverse to clients well-being.

Supports re-integration into the community.

Observes and documents client conditions, reports unusual events or changes in the clients condition to the rehab team and/or nursing supervisor.

Other Responsibilities: Understands and implements infection prevention practices.ï‚·

Participates in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities.

Adhere to Bayshore ICS Policies and Proceduresï‚·

Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management Systemï‚·

Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.ï‚·

Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel.ï‚·

Complete other tasks as requested

Attends team meetings as requested.

MUST be willing to travel throughout East York Region

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Rehab Assistant reports to the OT/PT and Clinical Manager, as appropriate.


Skills & Experience / Compétences & expérience


-Post Secondary Education in Kinesiology / PTA/OTA .

-CPR/ First Aid.

-Experience Minimum 1-2 years of rehab assistant experience

-Other Skills and Abilities

-Enjoy working with clients of all ages in multiple treatment environments.

-Reliability is crucial.

-Strong, communication, (oral and written) and exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills.

-Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner.

-Ability to work independently and to effectively collaborate with a team.

-Demonstrated basic knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email..

-Commitment to continued learning.

-Valid drivers license.

-Bilingualism in the following languages are considered an asset: Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindu, Urdu, Farsi

MUST be willing to travel throughout East York Region. Recent criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screen

The Rehab Assistant must demonstrate ongoing competency in completing all duties and responsibilities of this job description, in response to changes by the regulating body, as well as agreed upon specific goals and objectives.


Performance will be reviewed on an ongoing basis with a formal review at the end of the three month probationary period and subsequently, on at least an annual basis. Input will be sought from employees and consultants at the branch and National Development Centre as applicable.
