Under the direction of the Superintendent of Finance and Business Services, the Manager of Financial Services is accountable for providing effective leadership in the financial administration of the Board in all areas of finance, accounting, payroll, procurement and internal controls.

Skills & Experience / Compétences & expérience

Qualifications:

-Canadian Chartered Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) with a University degree in a business related field;
-Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience in progressively responsible positions preferably with a Public Sector Organization;
-Supervisory experience with strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills;
-Effective customer service focus with excellent collaborative skills;
-Excellent communication and presentation skills;
-Ability to work successfully in a team environment and independently, with minimal supervision;
-Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved;
-Exceptional project management and organizational skills with an ability to prioritize competing deadlines;
-Thorough understanding of business processes in order to develop internal controls and processes/procedures;
-Thorough understanding of maintaining an integrated financial system;
-Proficiency and experience applying GAAP and PSAB accounting standards;
-Working knowledge of Payroll processes and applicable legislation;
-Advanced proficiency and knowledge in the use of financial and other software applications;
-Demonstrated time management, analytical, attention to detail, problem solving and conflict resolution skills

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a Criminal Background Check (CBC) with vulnerable sector screening current within six months prior to date of hire.
