Job Summary:
It is the responsibility of the General Foreman to direct and lead a crew of hourly workers on a project reporting to the Project Manager or Site Superintendent. The General Foreman is responsible for managing all aspects of the crew’s work including planning, production and monitoring of performance. In addition, part of this position also includes the tasks of a Senior Carpenter. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials including wood and light steel.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervise crews and where applicable provide guidance;
• Plan, organize and assign work to be done by manpower crews and monitor  conformance to quality and safety standards;
• Assist the Project Manager in the supervision of sub-trades;
• Monitor crew’s productivity, track man hours and material costs for work performed;
• Manage, receive and report materials on site;
• Manage the storage, security and maintenance of specific tools and manuals;
• Assist in the management implementation and monitoring of the safety programs;
• Able to prepare the layout of the project;
• Work with blueprints;
• Work with all construction materials such as wood, steel, plastic, drywall, concrete and fiberglass;
• Work with prefabricated buildings;
• Check work along the way to ensure it’s up to code and specifications;
• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure;
• Erect scaffolding;
• Build concrete forms;
• Other tasks as required.

Skills & Experience / Compétences & expérience

• Education: Completion of high school is required;
• Experience in ICI construction is required;
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the trade is required. If the candidate doesn’t
have at least 5 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate is required;
• Sheetmetal and siding experience and/or hardware installation experience are important
• Physically demanding;
• Strong interpersonal and technical skills are required.
