The Welcoming and Settlement Centre
The Welcoming and Settlement Centre by ACFOMI helps immigrant newcomers in their settlement process and employment.
The Welcoming and Settlement Centre helps immigrant newcomers to Kingston with a personalized plan that evaluates their needs and guides them through their settlement process. A personalized settlement plan can include other services like language learning or entrepreneurial support with a mentor program.
Personalized Support for Immigrant Newcomers
The workshops offered by ACFOMI help immigrant newcomers gain knowledge about life in Canada.
The Francophone Services Guide
As part of the Welcoming & Settlement Centre of Kingston, ACFO Mille-Îles in collaboration with the Cooperation Council of Ontario (CCO) presents a series of workshops on social and cooperative (co-op) entrepreneurship.
The Collective Entrepreneurship webinar series offers permanent residents training that will allow them to gain the knowledge to eventually create a social enterprise or co-op. This webinar series promotes collective entrepreneurship that allows immigrant newcomers to contribute to society and the local economy.
Professional & Community Mentorship
The Professional & Community Mentorship offers training to professionals established in the community, to train professional and/or community mentors. This will provide opportunities for immigrant newcomers to connect with professional mentors who exist in the community.
Job Market Access
With ACFOMI Employment Services, this program aims to prepare immigrant newcomers to work in Canada, with initiatives to improve job-readiness skills.
The intercultural workshops are intended for employers looking to encourage the cultural awareness and reflection on the skills and experiences that immigrant newcomers acquired abroad.
ACFO Mille-Îles strives for the development, growth, and the linguistic, cultural, socio-community and associative vitality of the French speaking community of the Thousand Islands.
We believe in honesty, transparency, cooperation, harmony and respect.
